Funeral service for Marie Helen Bacon, 1764 Pemiscot, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David V. Dissen will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Bacon, 76, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at her home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Gordonville, daughter of Ernst T. and Elda Siemers Telle. She married Melvin Bacon Nov. 18, 1945, in Cape Girardeau.
Bacon had worked more than 11,900 volunteer hours at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She donated handmade afghans to the hospital gift shop, and made Christmas stockings for the newborns. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Cape Senior Center, and had been active in Girl Scouts.
She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church and Junior Ladies Aide.
Survivors include her husband; a son, David Bacon of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Martha Dickinson of Hartville; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by twin daughters, a granddaughter, brother and sister.
