Margaret Spear

Margaret Rose Spear, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Lutheran Home.

She was born July 11, 1937, in Cape Girardeau to Joe and Thelma Bechtlofft Barenkamp.

Margaret graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School and then Southeast Missouri State University. She worked in Kent Library for 35 years.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, John (Kim) Spear, Donald (Heather) Spear and Melody (Charles) Jaco, all of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Holly, Garet and Max; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth William Spear; sister, Sharron Hulcy Barrows; niece, Margaret Wiggins; and nephew, David Hulcy.

Margaret was a strong and loving mother, raising four children on her own while working full-time.

She will be remembered for being tough, funny and sweet, and she will forever be loved and missed by her family.

According to Margaret's wishes, there will be no services.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
