Margaret C. Niswonger, 71, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 10, 1935, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Roscoe and Elsie Mae Brown Clifton. She and Gary Niswonger were married July 3, 1954...

Margaret C. Niswonger, 71, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 10, 1935, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Roscoe and Elsie Mae Brown Clifton. She and Gary Niswonger were married July 3, 1954.

Margaret was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson 55 years, and was a volunteer at the Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry in Jackson. She was a member of Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson, and of the Ladies Golf Association. Being an avid golfer, she participated in numerous local women's tournaments.

Margaret was a longtime employee of the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson, then worked at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau as a physical therapist.

Loving survivors include her husband; a son, David (Victoria) Niswonger of Wildwood, Mo.; a brother, John (Debbie) Clifton of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Betty (Claude) Jaco of Jackson; and two granddaughters, Christian and Julia Margaret Niswonger of Wildwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or New McKendree UMC.
