Margaret Pender

Margaret L. Pender, 73, of Murphysboro, Ill., formerly of Alto Pass, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

She was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Alto Pass, the daughter of Clural and Margaret Harris Neighbors. She and Charles R. Pender were married on Feb. 1, 1954 in Alto Pass. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2006.

Pender was a member of the Knoff Bend Pentecostal Church in Elkville, Ill.

Survivors include five children, Arlene Reese, Tana Speener, Becky Silvey and Tara Reese, all of Carbondale, Ill., Zina Pender of Murphysboro, Ill.; five brothers, Jim Neighbors of Royal Oak, Mich., Fred Neighbors of Dearborn, Mich., Bobby Neighbors of Missouri, Doc Neighbors of Anna, Ill., and Carl Neighbors of Jonesboro; two sisters, Nancy Fox of Balcom, Ill., and Sharlette Sims of Anna; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and great-granddaughter.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Alto Pass.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Merle Macke officiating. Interment will be in Dutch Ridge Cemetery, north of Alto Pass.
