EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral for Margaret Ellen Humphreys of Denton, N.C., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Jim Eskew and Lawrence Heckert will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Friday.

Humphreys, 66, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Tyronza, Ark., daughter of James William and Ella Heath Smith. She and Ira Lee Humphreys were married Nov. 24, 1950, in Arkansas.

While living in Mississippi County she attended New Bethel Baptist Church near Charleston. She had lived in Denton the past 22 years.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerry and Joe Humphreys of Thomasville, N.C.; and a daughter, Sherri Harrelson of Wilmington, N.C.

Also surviving are four brothers, John Smith of Carlisle, Pa., Howard Smith of Puxico, Bill Smith of Highland, Mich., Harold Smith of Farmington; five sisters, Kitty Harper of Bertrand, Doris Hart, Sue Smith and Becky Schulien of Tucson, Ariz., Helen Taylor of Oran; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
