Margaret Jane Hood Haslauer, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Chateau Girardeau. She resided in Cairo, Ill., most of her adult life. She was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Mound City, Ill., to Judge and Mrs. Fred Hood. She was valedictorian of the 1938 graduating class of Mound City High School. She and William H. Haslauer were married Oct. 15, 1938, in New Madrid, Mo., by Judge Phillips. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988...

Margaret Jane Hood Haslauer, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Chateau Girardeau. She resided in Cairo, Ill., most of her adult life.

She was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Mound City, Ill., to Judge and Mrs. Fred Hood. She was valedictorian of the 1938 graduating class of Mound City High School. She and William H. Haslauer were married Oct. 15, 1938, in New Madrid, Mo., by Judge Phillips. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988.

Haslauer was a very active and longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and the Patron's Club of Magnolia Manor.

Survivors include three daughters and their spouses, Susan and John Bryant of East Prairie, Mo., Sarah and Dan O'Brien of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Claudia and Ray Herzog of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Scott Bryant, Jill Bryant Gage, Kristin Bryant-Patel, Sean O'Brien, Colleen O'Brien Doten, and Ray Herzog III; four great-granddaughters and eight great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; and two granddaughters, Samantha Herzog and Janet Bryant.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 1706 Washington Ave., in Cairo.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Magnolia Manor in Cairo, Cairo Public Library or charity of the donor's choice.

Barkett Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
