Margaret Ellen Edmundson, 76, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 1995, in Crestwood.
She was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Union County, Ill., daughter of David and Katherine Branson Toler. She was reared by Will and Lillian Baker. She and John Edmundson were married Aug. 6, 1953, at Bloomfield. He died Nov. 2, 1994.
Edmundson was a graduate of Stemile Business College. She owned and operated movie theaters in Dongola, Ill., Bloomfield and Advance. She was responsible for the building of and operating Jackson Drive-In Theater at Jackson.
After selling the theaters she and her husband owned and operated Dixie Motel in Harrisburg, Ill., and later Southern Cafe in Cape Girardeau. After her husband retired she owned and operated Carver's Florist in Cape Girardeau and then was co-owner of Professional Fashion Uniforms.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, member and former treasurer of Historical Association of Cape Girardeau, and was a charter member of River City Business and Professional Women's Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Brookman of Crestwood, Joan Howard of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Pauline Bartlett of Cape Girardeau, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bonnie Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
