MOUNDS, Ill. -- Margaret Colleen "Cookie" Colbroth, 80, of Mounds went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
She was born June 15, 1934, in New Burnside, Illinois, daughter of Louis Clayton and Elsie Gertrude Watson Keltner. Margaret and William Gus Colbroth were married Feb. 8, 1949. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1994.
Margaret was very active in Smiles I Senior Citizen Center in Mounds. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt. She was loved by many from her church family, as well as her Smiles family. She loved to go to the goodie stores on Saturdays with her girls.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Jim) Sharp of Olmsted, Illinois, Linda (Larry) Owen and Ronda (Roger) Cheek of Mounds; a son, William (Melinda) Colbroth of Metropolis, Illinois; three sisters, Diann (Robin) Monan of Mounds, Rita (Roy) Nichols of Villa Ridge, Illinois, and Billie Gay (Paul) Nichols of Waverly, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by brothers Thomas Crammer, Charles Keltner and three infant brothers; sisters Velma Talbert, Maxine Garrison and an infant sister.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Cremation will follow.
