Marcus L. "Pickle" Seyer, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1920, in Kelso, Mo., later moving with his family to Cape Girardeau. He was the son of Ferdinand and Helen Glueck Seyer, both deceased. He and Margaret Stehr were married Sept. 30, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
During World War II he served in the army Medical Corps in the South Pacific. He was discharged in February 1946. He was awarded the Asiatic Theater campaign ribbon, the American Theater campaign ribbon, a Victory ribbon, a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Mobil Oil Co. in 1978 after 23 years of service. Seyer was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Murray, Ky., Council 6897.
He lived in Kelso, Cape Girardeau, Murray, Ky., and Springfield, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Ann Seyer Reynolds and son-in-law Bill Reynolds of Springfield; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Nicole Monique Reynolds Forshee and husband Brendan of Tulsa, Okla.; Gretchen Noel Reynolds Snowden and husband Robert of Nixa, Mo.; Blake William Reynolds and wife Nicole Lynn Dials Reynolds of Wichita, Kan.; Carmen Elaine Reynolds of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark Anthony Reynolds of Springfield, Mo. Great-grandchildren include a great-grandson, Blaine Hamilton Forshee, and great-granddaughter, Claire Monique Forshee, both of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, where military rites will be conducted.
