OLMSTED, Ill. -- Funeral service for Marcus L. Hughes of Olmsted will be held at 1 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The Revs. Jon Althoff and Joey Dunning will officiate, with burial in Masonic Cemetery at Olmsted.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to service time.

Hughes, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Daystar Health Care in Cairo.

He was the son of Marcus and Tida Arnold Hughes. He and Ruth Hogendobler were married 63 years ago.

Hughes owned general merchandise stores in Olmsted and Karnak 48 years. He was a member of Karnak Lions Club, Modern Woodmen, and Olmsted United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margaret Stillwell of Mahomet, Donna Bradley of Olmsted; three sons, Marcus Hughes of Atlanta, Ga., Clayton Hughes of Buckley, Dale Hughes of Penfield; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
