Allie "Manuel" Oliver, 71, of Millersville passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his home, in the arms of his loving wife, Janice.
Manuel, which he preferred, was born May 7, 1941. He and Janice Kay Smith were married Dec. 15, 1962. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
He worked at Huckstep Body Shop many years and opened his own shop, Oliver Body and Frame Shop, in 1977. He was very proud of being a member of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's patrol 14 years. He was awarded a plaque for the most man-hours worked during his first year of service.
Manuel loved spending time with his family and friends, and particularly loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandkids. However, one of Manuel's true passions was his Harley motorcycles. He spent many, many hours and days riding with Janice and other family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tina (Scott) Norris of Maryland Heights, Mo.; twin sons, Terry (Karen) Oliver of Jackson, Jerry Oliver of Patton, Mo.; six grandchildren, Justin Oliver, Dylan Snell, Drue Welker, Brittany Oliver, Tiffany Oliver, Courtney Pyrtle; three sisters, Marie (Bob) Abernathy of Morley, Mo., Wilma (Gary) Finn of St. Louis, Bonnie (David) Brenning of Troy, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Lawanda Oliver, LaDonna Oliver and Mary Jane Oliver; two brothers-in-law, Butch Abernathy and Bill Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lee Oliver; four brothers, Avery, Seth, Alfred and Albert; two sisters, Betty Abernathy and Ann Miller.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
