SCOTT CITY -- Mamie J. Adams, 89, of Scott City, died Friday, Feb. 1, 1991, at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center. She was born June 9, 1901 at Cobden, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Julia Abney. She worked as seamstress at Ely Walker Co. A member of the Wesleyan Church in Scott City, she also taught Sunday School for five years at the church...

SCOTT CITY -- Mamie J. Adams, 89, of Scott City, died Friday, Feb. 1, 1991, at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.

She was born June 9, 1901 at Cobden, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Julia Abney.

She worked as seamstress at Ely Walker Co.

A member of the Wesleyan Church in Scott City, she also taught Sunday School for five years at the church.

On June 26, 1925, she married Ulen Ester Adams. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1983.

She was also preceded by one son, Billy Adams; two twin baby boys who died at birth, and two brothers.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Adams, Essex, Ronald Adams, Scott City Route 1, Ray Adams, Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Beverly Webb, Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott city with the Rev. R.C. Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Lightener Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.

Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home.
