BERTRAND -- Funeral service for Mamie Azilee Sweet Birdsong of Bertrand was held Saturday at Shelby Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Rev. Lee Fransler officiated, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.

Birdsong, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born June 18, 1918, in Kentucky, daughter of Luther M. and Marvie West Cannon. She first married Handeble Drew Sweet, who preceded her in death.

Birdsong was a member of First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include two sons, Harry Barnes of Sikeston, Buddy Fears of Seffner, Fla.; six daughters, Charlene Hopkins of Kaufman, Texas, Bonnie Campbell of Okawville, Ill., Gwen Webb of Bertrand, Renae Coten of Matthews, Deborah Moreland and Tyanne Webb of Rogers, Ark.; a sister, Edra Spencer of New Cumberland, W. Va.; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.
