Maggie Crites, 86, of Jackson passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson. She was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Jackson to Fritz "Bill" and Annie H. McBryde Wolfenkoeh-ler. Maggie Crites, 86, of Jackson passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Jackson to Fritz "Bill" and Annie H. McBryde Wolfenkoeh-ler. She and Wilbur "Wib" Crites were married July 14, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas. They had been married 41 years when Wib passed away Dec. 1, 1993.

Maggie attended Jackson High School and was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She worked at Wib's Barbeque and the former Breeze's Tavern, both in Jackson. She and Wib owned and operated Crites Tavern in uptown Jackson from 1967 to 1987.

She deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed vegetable gardening and flowers.

Loving survivors include two children, Keith (Sharon) Crites of Jackson and Joyce Crites and husband Bob Hinkebein of Jackson; two granddaughters, Kristy (Kirk) Smith of Patton, Missouri, and Kelly Crites of Jackson; two great-grandsons, Riley and Blake Smith; and a brother, Dale (Edna) Wolfenkoehler of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and two infant siblings.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mindy Kiepe officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
