MAGGIE CLEMONS LEWIS

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Funeral service for Maggie Clemons Lewis of Mound City was held Thursday at Algee Memorial Chapel in Cairo. The Rev. Albert Ingram officiated, with burial in Spencer Heights Memorial Park in Mounds.

Lewis, 103, died Sunday, July 5, 1992.

She was born Dec. 24, 1988, in Mound City, daughter of George and Mary Hughes. She married Thomas R. Clemons in 1904. She later married George Lewis, who preceded her in death.

Lewis was a member of White Chapel AME Church, and had sang in the choir, served on the Missionary Board, and as treasurer of the Sunday School department.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Butler and Mable McGee; a son, George Clemons; two grandsons, and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
