Sue Magdalene Brotherton, 77, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at her home in Jackson. She was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Chester and Mildred Clippard Smith. Maggie and Gus Brotherton were married June 25, 1954, in Jackson. She was a 1952 graduate of Jackson High School and worked at Jackson Hosiery. ...

Sue Magdalene Brotherton, 77, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at her home in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Chester and Mildred Clippard Smith.

Maggie and Gus Brotherton were married June 25, 1954, in Jackson.

She was a 1952 graduate of Jackson High School and worked at Jackson Hosiery. She was a secretary and assisted in many different ways at Pest Free Inc., a family-owned business. She was an Eastern Star member and volunteered at church. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Maggie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will miss her family and Christian friends greatly.

Survivors include her husband, Gus; two sons, G. Dean (Tammy) Brotherton II of Jackson and Trent (Terrie) Brotherton of Lebanon, Tenn.; sisters Peggy Jones of Carlyle, Ill., Mary Kutscher of Marion, Ark., Carolyn Schreiner and Saundra O'Loughlin of Jackson; grandchildren Trae Brotherton of Kirksville, Mo., Kirk Brotherton of Jackson, Trent Brotherton II of Nashville, Tenn., Katherine (Mike) Isaacson of Gallatin, Tenn., and Scott Brotherton of Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Tommy Weems officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Jackson.
