ANNA, Ill. -- Madonna Choate, 85, of Anna died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born April 21, 1919, in St. Elmo, Ill., daughter of Leslie H. and Ethel Elizabeth Byers Ross. She and Clyde Lee Choate were married May 10, 1947, in Carbondale, Ill. He died Oct. 5, 2001...

ANNA, Ill. -- Madonna Choate, 85, of Anna died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born April 21, 1919, in St. Elmo, Ill., daughter of Leslie H. and Ethel Elizabeth Byers Ross. She and Clyde Lee Choate were married May 10, 1947, in Carbondale, Ill. He died Oct. 5, 2001.

Choate worked in the defense plant in Wichita, Kan., during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Wood of Carbondale, Madonna Hughey of Anna; a brother, Clyde "Cop" Ross of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Genevieve Cox of Carbondale; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and six brothers.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and at Evangelical Presbyterian Church after 10 a.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
