ESSEX -- Madge Eaton, 89, of Essex died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Dexter. She was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Idalia, daughter of Samuel A. and Myrtie Mae Lincoln Harper. She and Fred Eaton were married Oct. 24, 1938, at Avert. He died March 19, 1991. Eaton taught school in Stoddard County seven years. ...

ESSEX -- Madge Eaton, 89, of Essex died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Dexter.

She was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Idalia, daughter of Samuel A. and Myrtie Mae Lincoln Harper. She and Fred Eaton were married Oct. 24, 1938, at Avert. He died March 19, 1991.

Eaton taught school in Stoddard County seven years. She was a member of Castor River General Baptist Church, served as secretary of the church and Sunday School, and was president of the Ladies Friendship Circle. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star in Dexter.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Menley of Bloomfield; six sisters, Hattie Nottingham of St. Charles, Sybil Lawrence and Edna Hellman of Dexter, Blanche Odom of Essex; Bessie Morlan of Bloomfield, Marion Atkins of Bossier City, La.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Rick White will officiate. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery.
