BENTON, Mo. -- Madeline Patricia Hurst, 87, of Benton, formerly of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 6, 1929, at Oran, Missouri, in the home of her grandmother, Mollie Oliver, who raised her. She was the daughter of Vernie and Cora Blanche Oliver West.
She and Arlen J. Hurst were united in marriage Nov. 25, 1948, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, and he passed away Jan. 10, 2009.
Madeline served as a matron for the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff Department until her retirement May 16, 1994.
She attended Little Brushy Baptist Church at Wappapello, Missouri.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie (Rhonda) Hurst of Oran; daughters, Kathy (John) Jordan of Jackson and Patti Morris of Benton; a sister, Wanda Ventres of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Preceding her in death were her parents, twin sons, husband and three brothers.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
