Mackie Childers, 71, of Scott City, beloved brother and uncle, passed away Feb. 26, 2020. He was born Nov. 2, 1948, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Everett Lee and Verta Lee Childers. Mackie Childers, 71, of Scott City, beloved brother and uncle, passed away Feb. 26, 2020.

He was born Nov. 2, 1948, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Everett Lee and Verta Lee Childers.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After the war, he was employed as a line assembler in Texas. He moved to live in Scott City with his late 44-year companion, Wayne Toton of Scott City. He was a member of the Christian Church in Scott City.

He is survived by his siblings, Eddie Childers and Jackie Childress of Chester, Virginia, and Dottie Clouse of Lexington, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery in Portageville, Missouri.

Memorial donations can be made to the ASPCA.
