DEXTER -- Funeral for Mabel Green Tippen of Dexter will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Gary Petty will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Acorn Ridge.
Tippen, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Phillipstown, Ill., daughter of Charles and Mary Lawson Darr. She and Harvey Green were married Aug. 25, 1934. He preceded her in death. She and Samuel Tippen were married Nov. 15, 1963. He died June 23, 1985.
She lived near Acorn Ridge until moving to Dexter in 1950.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Green of Dudley; five daughters, Joyce Fleetwood of Henderson, Nev., Doris Thomas and Shelby Monroe of Bloomfield, Judy Cook of East Alton, Ill., Lois Holden of Dexter; three half brothers, Ray and Frank Abernathy of Dexter, Bud Abernathy of Marble Hill; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, three sisters, and four brothers.
