CLERMONT, Fla. -- Mabel Nell Schaefer, 85 of Clermont, formerly of Scott City, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at her home. She was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Delta to Leo Daniel and Beulah Agnes Surface Simmons. She married Andrew Lawrence Schaefer on Sept. 5, 1975, in Scott City. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1996.
She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City and was a volunteer at Southeast Hospital for 20 years.
Mabel is survived by two daughters, Cindy Killian of St. Louis and Debbie (Roy) Griffaw of Clermont; a son-in-law, Rob Killian of Cape Girardeau; sister, Doris Spencer of Pensacola, Florida; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.
The family requests masks to be worn at the services.
