BERTRAND, Mo. — Mabel Ann Peters, 92, of Bertrand died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born May 10, 1916, in Monette, Ark., daughter of William Theodore and Florence Jane Pitts Woods. She and John Albert Peters Sr. were married Oct. 19, 1935. He died April 3, 2005.
Peters had lived in the Bertrand area most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include seven sons, John Peters Jr., David and Larry Peters, all of Bertrand, Mike Peters of Charleston, Mo., Jerry Peters of Benton, Mo., Ricky Peters of Arcola, Ill., Steven Peters of Sikeston; three daughters, Barbara Miller and Donna Peters of Bertrand, Dianne Babb of Charleston; a brother, Tommy Woods of Bertrand; two sisters, Ruby Little of Smithville, Ohio, Norma Jean Matthews of Sullivan, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bob Herring and Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
