PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mabel I. Johnson, 88, of Perryville died Tuesday. Feb. 12, 2008, at Independence Care Center in Perryville. She was born March 1, 1919, at Perryville, daughter of Charles and Leona Shrum Herron. She and Lawrence Johnson were married on Dec. 7, 1945. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1988...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mabel I. Johnson, 88, of Perryville died Tuesday. Feb. 12, 2008, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.

She was born March 1, 1919, at Perryville, daughter of Charles and Leona Shrum Herron. She and Lawrence Johnson were married on Dec. 7, 1945. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1988.

Johnson worked as a cook and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice French of Perryville and Rita Patterson of Arnold, Mo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Brother Don Estes will officiate, with burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
