JACKSON -- Mabel Godwin, 88, of Jackson died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Jackson Manor.
She was born May 8, 1909, near Delta, daughter of William S. and India Simmons Morrison. She and James William Godwin were married April 21, 1928. He died Nov. 30, 1988.
Godwin was a member of First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School more than 45 years, was active in Women's Missionary Union, and sang in the JOY Choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Dow and Barbara Noel of Jackson; three sisters, Wilma Busciglio and Lorene Pincksten of Cape Girardeau, LaWanda Carrigan of Joliet, Ill.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
