GRASSY, Mo. -- Mabel M. Dinkens, 87, of Grassy died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girar-deau.
She was born Feb. 4, 1916, at Hahn, Mo., daughter of the late Earl and Dora Shell Hendershott. She married Theo-dore Gaines, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 15, 1950, she and L.B. "Dick" Dinkens were married and he preceded her in death July 14, 1993.
Mabel was a homemaker and loved to quilt. She was a member of Palmore Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Wilma and Donald Rouggly of Grassy, Berniece and Don Smith of Advance, Mo., Louise and Bill Acup of Marble Hill, Mo., Brenda and Roy Spiller of Wentzville, Mo., Margie and Walter Payne of McGee, Mo.; three sons, Don and Sharon Dinkins of Whitewater, Richard and Vicky Dinkens of Zalma, Mo., Kenneth and Linda Dinkens of Advance; a stepson, L.B. "Jay" and Joyce Dinkens of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Charlie Hendershott of Senath, Mo.; two sisters, Clara Hamman of Frohna, Mo., Lillian Rouggly of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, four brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Porter and Michael Rouggly officiating. Burial will be in Dan Eaker Cemetery near Hahn.
