CAIRO, ILL. Mabel C. Pettit, 75, of Cairo, Ill., formerly of Sandusky, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 16, 1990, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in Graves County Kentucky on March 28, 1915, to Luther Tibbs and Mary Beason Tibbs.
She she was a former member of the Sandusky, Ill., Methodist Church and attended the Assembly of God Church in Mounds, Ill.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Francis E. Pettit on Jan. 27, 1980. Also proceeding her in death were two daughters and three sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Jesse Provo of Tamms, Donald E. Provo of Jacksonville, Ill., Barry Wayne Provo of San Diego, Calif. and Francis Ray Pettit of Cairo; one daughter, Mary Alice Futrill of Hopkinsville Ky.; three step-daughters, Francis Irene Sissom of Olive Branch, Mary Susan Turner of Bethalto, Ill., and Lucille Matthews of St. Louis; one brother, James Tibbs of Paducah, Ky.; one sister, Ina May Moallankamp of Florissant; 17 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, several step-great- grandchildren and several great- great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating,
Burial will follow at the Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
