SIKESTON -- Charles Lynn Sutton, 85, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
He was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Sikeston, son of Jacob and Maude Gower Sutton. He and Nellie A. Andres were married Aug. 13, 1933, in Blytheville, Ark.
Sutton was a graduate of Sikeston High School and worked in the Sutton Brothers family store in Sikeston.
He was a civil engineer and had worked for Missouri State Highway Department, Sikeston Post Office, Frazier Brace Engineering in St. Louis and Kingsport, Tenn., Clinton Engineering in Oak Ridge, and was a supervisor at Union Carbide K-25 Plant. He retired in 1973.
Sutton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge in Oak Ridge, and served in Missouri National Guard 16 years.
Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Evelyn Wardwell of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Charles E. Buck officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel Friday from 12:30 p.m. to service time.
