ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lynn Edison Richards, 58, of Advance passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at John J. Pershing VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was born May 5, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of Johnny E. and Roselee Null Richards. Lynn was a 1969 graduate of Bell City High School. ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lynn Edison Richards, 58, of Advance passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at John J. Pershing VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born May 5, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of Johnny E. and Roselee Null Richards.

Lynn was a 1969 graduate of Bell City High School. He attended Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif., and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in social work.

He was employed many years by the Social Security Administration in Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada and Missouri.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include three sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Kinworthy of Marion, Ill., Melody (Gary) Loffland of Fort Worth, Texas, Dana (Bryan) Sullinger of Advance; a brother, Derek (Kim) Richards of Perryville; five nieces; three nephews; four aunts; three uncles; numerous cousins; and his beloved dog, Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. The Rev. Eric Shrum will officiate. Burial will be in Balch Cemetery near Advance with full military rites.
