Dorcas Lynn McPheron Moore, 76, passed away at home in Cape Girardeau, Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the company of loved ones, after a short battle with cancer.
Lynn was born June 15, 1948, in Columbia to Ray and Dorcas McPheron. She grew up south of Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from Derby High School.
She attended Southeastern Illinois College.
On July 3, 1966, she married Dan Bedwell, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 3, 1988, she married Curt Felton, who also preceded her in death. On Feb. 14, 2022, she married Dave Moore.
Her devotion to family, which included her chosen family of friends and her family of churchgoers at First Baptist Church of Scott City, was most joyously expressed in her teaching of children at the church and the close bonds she forged with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The closeness of her enduring friendships stood as an example to those who knew and loved her.
Her love of purple hippopotamuses will bring a smile to the lips of those who remember her. She was known for giving as she could to all she could and treasuring the love she received.
She worked as a bookkeeper and a caregiver for many years. She spent time in Japan, and then Denver before moving to the region of Southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and spent the last years of her life in Cape Girardeau. She volunteered at Options for Women in Cape Girardeau and the Nutrition Center in Chaffee.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; her two children Derek (Angela) Bedwell and Deborah Bedwell (Kris) Ousley; brother, Marty (Denise) McPheron; and two stepchildren Charles (Jennifer) Moore and Patrick Moore.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren Curtlin (Nick) Watkins , Christopher Owens, Hannah Bedwell, Ethan Bedwell, Lauran Bedwell, Isaac Bedwell, Miranda (Kale) Wehmeyer, Nye (Kale) Moore and Chloe (Jacob) Shelton; eight great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.
We love you, Lynn, and you will be greatly missed.
