Lynn J. Poston, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at his home. He was born on Sept. 16, 1917, at Silver Mines, son of Elmer and Rhoda Moore Poston. He married Virginia Hohler on Aug. 5, 1939, at Cape Girardeau. Poston retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in 1981 where he had worked as a warehouse supervisor. He had also worked as a maintenance worker for Notre Dame High School...

Lynn J. Poston, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1917, at Silver Mines, son of Elmer and Rhoda Moore Poston. He married Virginia Hohler on Aug. 5, 1939, at Cape Girardeau.

Poston retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in 1981 where he had worked as a warehouse supervisor. He had also worked as a maintenance worker for Notre Dame High School.

During World War II, he fought in the Asiatic-Pacific arena where he earned the Victory Medal. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and Knights of Columbus 1111.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, James, John and David Poston, all of Cape Girardeau, Tom Poston of Omaha, Neb., and Larry Poston of Fairoaks, Calif.; a sister, Opal Perkins of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons on Sprigg Street from 4 to 9 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be said at 7:30 and the Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Monsignor Richard Rowling officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
