Lynn Eugene Aufdenberg, 67, of Jackson died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born June 28, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Arnold H. and Esther Edna Grebing Aufdenberg. He and LaVerne Winchester were married July 1, 1978, in Cape Girardeau.

Lynn was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army, and a member of the VFW Post 3838.

He had worked for the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau, then entered the Army in February 1967. He retired from Rubbermaid Co. in Jackson in 2009. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne R. Aufdenberg of Jackson; daughters Chris (Dave) Messamore of Anna, Illinois, and Gina Nicole Aufdenberg of Jackson; sisters Shirley Peterson of Fayette, Missouri, and Melba Inman of Cobden, Illinois; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jason L. Aufdenberg on Dec. 5, 1991; and a brother, Larry Aufdenberg.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Micha Bristro officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Disabled American Veterans.
