PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lyndola A. Hudson, 97, of Perryville passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.
She was born July 11, 1912, at Lithium, Mo., in Perry County, first child of the late Henry J. and Mary Elsie Schamel Schulte.
Lyndola was a lifelong resident of Perry County except from 1918 to 1920 when her parents moved first to Wyoming and then to North Dakota. She attended Morey Grammar School in Bois Brule Bottom, Mo., and McBride High School.
She was christened Alice Agnes Lindola on Sept. 1, 1912, at Church of the Lady of the Rosary in Claryville, Mo. She was converted and baptized into the Baptist religion Aug. 20, 1933, and followed that belief the rest of her life.
She and Floyd O. Hudson were married in 1930. They divorced in 1945 and remarried in 1978. He passed away in 1980.
Four children were born of that marriage: Mary "Lou" Pellican, Norma "Jean" (Arnold) Zimmerman, Dale Hudson and Helen Marie Pourney-Richardet-Schilley.
In addition to her two older daughters, also surviving are nine grandchildren, Brian Zimmerman, Lynn Zimmerman (Chase) McKeague, Rick, Tim and Todd (Michele) Richardet, Laura Richardet (John) Ripley, Dale Jr. and Shelley Hudson; 11 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lisa and Billy McKeague, Stephanie, Cara and Lisa Ripley, Grant and Andrew Perkins-Richardet, Stephanie and Chase Richardet, and Gabriella Grayson.
Also four siblings, Dorothy Schulte Walls of Festus, Mo., Melvin "Jack" Schulte of Chester, Ill., Maxine Schulte Wilson of St. Louis, and Edward "Toby" Schulte of Little Rock, Ark.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dale; a daughter, Helen; three brothers, Henry J. "Jip" Schulte Jr., Jesse and Calvin Schulte; three sisters, Leona Schulte Hoffman, Thelma Schulte Stark, and Euline Schulte Schutte; a grandson, James Pourney; and a great-grandson, Travis Clements.
She retired from International Shoe Co. in 1977, and lived independently until July 2004. She resided at Holiday Residential Care until April 2008, and then was in Ste Genevieve, Mo., until June 2009 when she finally got to come back "home" to Perryville.
She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, First Baptist Church and Perry County Historical Society.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Fork Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Southeast Hospice or Cedar Fork Community Cemetery Association.
