ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lyman L. McGee, 85, of Advance passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 17, 1927, in McGee, Mo., son of Hugh and Lucy Evilsizer Brisco McGee. He and Pansy Massey were married June 21, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.
Lyman was a teacher for 34 years in rural schools, the Puxico, Mo., School District and the Hazelwood School District in St. Louis. He was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church near Advance.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy McGee of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Sandra Zinz of Marble Hill, Mo., Barbara Archevald of St. Louis; and three grandchildren, Bradley Foster of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jamie and Natalie Kwiatkowski of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ray Placher and the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in McGee New Hope Cemetery in McGee, with full military rites conducted.
