Lyman Ray "Buck" Farrow of Jackson passed away Saturday night, Jan. 22, 2022, surrounded by family and friends at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
In the late 1950s Buck was married to Patricia Bledsoe, with whom he fathered his children: Anthony "Tony" Farrow, Tamera "Tammy" Baremore, Tina Roberts and Timothy Farrow. He was a loving father who worked tirelessly to provide for his children. Years later, on May 5, 1978, he remarried, this time to his current wife, Billie Jean Kimbel. Together, they raised her son, Mark Allen Lunsford, from age 8.
As his children grew, they blessed him with several grandchildren and each brought a special joy to his heart.
Buck was an ornery man who never met a stranger, because he knew just about everyone in this area. He never had a task he couldn't figure out or a job he couldn't get done. From working 22 years for the Missouri Barge Line, owning his own sawmill in southern Illinois, to driving a semi, Buck knew a little bit of everything.
One of his true passions was fishing, whether it was on a commercial boat or jon boat on the Mississippi River, even off of a pier in Florida, you could always catch him with a line in the water. He also enjoyed being a pilot and owned several small planes throughout his adult life. He was an avid animal lover, leg puller and storyteller. In his old age he dedicated his life to being the caretaker for his wife, Billie. He was a devoted husband, friend and father.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Billie Jean Kimbel-Farrow of Jackson; three children, Tim and Tina, both of St. Louis, and Mark of Tucson, Arizona; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Kramer-Farrow; three children, Tony, Tammy and an infant son, David, as well as five siblings.
A zoom memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday with Glenn Cochran officiating. Anyone interested in attending should reach out to the family for more information.
Donations to the Lutheran Home Hospice for its amazing care in Lyman's final days.
Liley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
