Lyman F. Evans, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, son of Walter and Marie Hawthorne Evans. He and Agnes Littell were married Sept. 10, 1932. She died July 27, 1992.
Evans was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University.
He began his education career at Blodgett Schools in Blodgett, Mo., was superintendent at Advance Public Schools, and retired in 1975 as director of admissions at Southeast University.
Evans was a member of First Baptist Church, member of Webster Literary Society at Southeast University and president in 1932, member of Missouri State Teachers Association, and former member of the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert Evans of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mary Walther of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
There is no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairmount Cemetery, with the Rev. Jay White officiating.
Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
