ADVANCE -- Funeral service for Lyman A. McClain of Salem was held Jan. 7 at Fairview Church near here. Walter Smith and the Rev. Lloyd Tyree officiated, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem was in charge of arrangements.
McClain, 68 years old, died Friday, Jan. 4, 1991, at his home.
He was born June 18, 1922, at Advance, son of Wilbur and Sarah Lowe McClain.
He was a retired carpenter, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was past post commander of American Legion in Granite City, Ill., and member of the Eagles Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Steffens of Tamms; a brother, Austin McClain of Granite City; four sisters, Myrtle Tyree of Salem, Jewell Delavan of Michigan, Margie Stout of Granite City, Dolores Andrada of San Jose, Calif.; a granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robey McClain, and two sisters, Roxie Moore and Maxine Stonam.
