JACKSON -- Funeral service for Lydia M. Sperling of Jackson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Sperling, 94, died Monday, May 6, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 16, 1902, at Burfordville, daughter of Henry W. and Bertha Wettengel Maevers. She and William A. Sperling were married May 1, 1927. He died Feb. 19, 1989.
Sperling was employed at International Shoe Co. in Jackson 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Tilsit.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Hinkebein of Jackson; a brother, Albert Maevers of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Anita Sievers of Jackson; two grandsons, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
