Lydia Kathryn Reeves, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Arkansas to Samuel and Eva McKa Nation.
She and C. Franklin Reeves were married Aug. 31, 1941, at Milton, Fla. He preceded her in death May 17, 1997.
Lydia taught elementary school more than 25 years, first at Bird Rush Dirk School near Charleston, Mo., and then at Nell Holcomb School near Cape Girardeau 20 years before retiring. After her husband's death, she began traveling the world. She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
Survivors include two sons, William M. (Diane) and Charles Franklin Jr.; three daughters, Linda S. (Johnny), Dana M. and Patricia A.; two sisters-in-law, Donna Morgan and Mildred Burnett; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
