Funeral service for Lyda Jean Fornkahl of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. David Griesemer will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Fornkahl, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997, at her home.
She was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of LeRoy and Myrtie Stewart Smith. She attended Washington School and Central High School.
Fornkahl was a nurse aide at St. Francis Hospital 13 years. She was a member of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Christy McAlister of McClure, Ill.; three brothers, Elmer and Floyd Smith of Cape Girardeau, Ray Smith of Chaffee; five sisters, Evelyn Johnson, Muriel Dombrowski, Wanda Morris, Virginia Poston, and Judy Dambach, all of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
