WHITEWATER -- Luther Hedge, 102, of Whitewater, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1992, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born here Dec. 1, 1889, son of William and Laura Crump Hedge. He and Alpha Craft were married Aug. 30, 1919, at Jackson.
A retired farmer, Hedge had lived on a farm north of Whitewater 72 years. He was a member of VFW at Jackson, Bethlehem General Baptist Church at Crump, and had been a member of American Legion at Jackson more than 50 years. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Gail Woodruff of Lawrenceville, Ga., and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, granddaughter, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Revs. Arvil Huffman and Willis Smith will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:30-9 p.m. today. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
