LUTHER E. WASSON

EAST PRAIRIE -- Luther Eugene Wasson, 76, of East Prairie, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born April 8, 1922, in Strawberry, Ark., son of the late John and Virginia Wadley Wasson. He had lived most of his life in Mississippi County, where he was a retired farmer.

On. Sept. 2, 1939, he married Lulu Hockersmith, who survives. Other survivors are three sons, Larry and Charles Wasson, both of East Prairie, and Gary Wasson of Des Arc; three daughters, Glenda Williams and Martha Mayfield, both of East Prairie, and Kathy Henry of Sikeston; a brother, Dale Wasson of Rancho Cucomonga, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Visitation was held Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Shelby Chapel, with Brother David Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
