Lucy Ellen Towse, 77, 1030 Merriweather, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was born Jan. 9, 1915 in Pensacola, Fla., daughter of A.R. and Mattie Libby Towse. Lucy Ellen Towse, 77, 1030 Merriweather, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1915 in Pensacola, Fla., daughter of A.R. and Mattie Libby Towse.

She was a physical education and drivers education teacher at Cape Central High School for more than 20 years. She earned a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a masters degree from Columbia University in New York.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, the St. Francis Auxiliary and the Association of University Women.

Survivors are two nephews, John A. Towse of Gardner, Kan. and William R. Towse Jr. of Barrington, Ill.; five nieces, Betty Forcash, Newton, Conn., Lucy Ann Peterson, Old Saybrook, Conn., Dorothy Greco, Shelton, Conn., Tanya McIntire, Gardner, Kan. and Sandy Ward, New Palestine, Ill.

Three brothers and one nephew preceded her in death.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
