Lucille Hipps Thompson, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Cairo, Ill., the daughter of James A. and Jeanette Barton Hipps. She married Benjamin Cleo Hipps on March 30, 1940, in Jackson. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1963...

Lucille Hipps Thompson, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Cairo, Ill., the daughter of James A. and Jeanette Barton Hipps. She married Benjamin Cleo Hipps on March 30, 1940, in Jackson. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1963.

She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and was a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center. She worked at the medical center in the linen department for 15 years, retiring in 1987.

She is survived by two sons, Marshall Thompson of Scott City and Benjamin Thompson of Imperial, Mo.; a brother, Robert Hipps of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Stewart, Jeff, Matt and Ben Thompson, and Kelly Hunter; and a great-grandchild, Kevin Hunter.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Hipps; and a sister, Ruth Hendricks.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Derek Staples officiating.

Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery.
