MARBLE HILL -- Lucy Jane Laxton, 89, of Marble Hill died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 16, 1907, at Helenwood, Tenn., daughter of Ruffus and Martha Smith Winchester.
She married Hurstle V. Laxton on May 10, 1933. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1986.
She was a member of the Bethel General Baptist Church in Park Hills.
Survivors include seven sons, the Rev. Hurstle Laxton Jr., of Berea, Ky., Harry Laxton, Cleveland, Tex., Joe Laxton, St. Louis, George Laxton, High Ridge, Mo., the Rev. Sidney Laxton, Farmington, William Laxton, Scott City, and Charles Laxton, Marble Hill; four daughters, Virginia Collier, Barlow, Ky., Rose Drum, Oak Ridge, Kathleen Amos, Park Hills, Mo., and Doris Austin, Cape Girardeau; a brother, Winford Winchester, Stearns, Ky.; four sisters, Ivory Watson, Oneida, Tenn., Artie Troxell, Whitley, Ky., Katherine Hill and Dorothy Waters, both of Muncie, Ind.; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Liley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Mills officiating. Burial will be in the Union Light Cemetery near Marquand.
