Lucas Jay Respondek, 44, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 12, 1973, in Edwardsville, Illinois, son of Jerry and Leslie Skelly Respondek. He and Tammy Scoggins were married Dec. 19, 1997.
Lucas was an owner/operator of Motive Rail Inc. He was an outdoors man, enjoying hiking and playing golf. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved spending time with his family.
Lucas was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, where he participated as a board member and on the Humbug Team as Bob Cratchit. He was formerly a youth pastor of New Life Community Church of God in Benton, Illinois, and at Community Harvest in Somerset, Kentucky.
Loving survivors include his wife, Tammy Respondek; a daughter, Moriah, and a son, Seth; along with his parents, Jerry and Leslie Respondek; his mother- and father-in-law, Terra and Jackie Scoggins of Cleveland, Tennessee; four brothers, Jerry Lynn Respondek of Florida, Roger Respondek of Illinois, Lester Respondek of Jackson and Jay Respondek of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Respondek Mooney.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Phil Roop officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the family for a trust fund set up for the children.
