Luann Brodie Hutson, 75, of Jackson, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her home. She was born March 20, 1937, in Webster, Ill., daughter of Dale S. and Opal Marie Shipman Brodie. She and Verne Neil Hutson were married June 26, 1954, in Carthage, Ill...

Luann Brodie Hutson, 75, of Jackson, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her home.

She was born March 20, 1937, in Webster, Ill., daughter of Dale S. and Opal Marie Shipman Brodie. She and Verne Neil Hutson were married June 26, 1954, in Carthage, Ill.

Luann was an administrative secretary at Western Illinois University in Macomb until retiring in 2003. She was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa, Professional Secretaries International and a life member of Weight Watchers.

Survivors include her husband, Verne; her mother, Opal of Jackson; two sons, Steve V. (Brenda) Hutson of San Antonio, Randy J. (Carrie) Hutson of Keokuk; two daughters, Denise L. (Rick) Jokerst of Hamilton, Tammy R. (Mike) Homan of Jackson; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Richard Dale (Annie) Howell of Vicenza, Italy.

She was preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Sharon Dale Brodie Howell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.

Memorials may be directed to New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk and Southeast Hospice in Cape Girardeau. The family requests no flowers.
