POPLAR BLUFF -- L.S. Prewitt, 70, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, July 25, 1995, at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Gale, Ill. He and Freota Billingsley were married March 8, 1947.
Prewitt had lived in Poplar Bluff since 1956. He was a dragline operator, fireman and engineer with Missouri Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad 44 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff Masonic Lodge 209, Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine Temple of St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nicki Prewitt of St. Louis, Kathy Sanders and Vicki Mayer of Fisk; a son, Larry Prewitt of Springfield; his mother, Susie Prewitt of Gale; a brother, Ed Walters of Villa Ridge, Ill.; two sisters, Stella Simmons of Gale, Mildred Snell of Grand Tower, Ill., and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk after 6 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Bralley officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.
