ADVANCE, Mo. -- Loyd Huffman, 85, of Advance died April 2, 2009, at Advance Nursing Center.

He was born May 19, 1923, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Lee and Ida Barks Huffman.

He and Anna Lois Eaker were married Nov. 29, 1946, in Marble Hill, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He was a farmer. He was a charter member and deacon of the Zalma General Baptist Church and a member and past master of Zalma Masonic Lodge No. 545.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce Huffman and Eddie Huffman, both of Advance, Kenny Huffman of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Loren Huffman of Advance; three sisters, Aleen Garland of Scopus, Mo., Kathleen Douglas of St. Louis, Ruby Morrison of Murphysboro, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Revs. Keith Price and Naamon Eaker officiating.

Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
