Louise Steele, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995, at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.
She was born May 24, 1921, in Van Buren, Ark., daughter of Robert C. and Mabel McIlroy Steele. She moved with her family to Cape Girardeau in 1941.
She was a graduate of the Chillicothe Business College, and worked as a legal secretary and bookkeeper for Rush Limbaugh Sr. for 38 years until retirement in 1982. She also did real estate work for Colonial Federal Savings and Loan.
She was a member of the local chapter of Legal Secretaries a number of years. She was a past board member of the Salvation Army. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nieces, Ann Slate of Highland, Ill., and Mary Taylor of James Pueblo, N.M.; a nephew, William Steele of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a nephew.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, where funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, and burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
